Students have an in-depth knowledge of the function and importance of European Union law in the area of ecological sustainability, particularly regarding climate protection, energy, transport, supply and housing. They are able to recognize and critically reflect on the contribution of European Union law to the preservation of natural resources, including the corresponding conflicts of interest, and to solve relevant questions.

Against the backdrop of the foundations of European Union law, European Union legislation concerning sustainability and ecological issues shall be presented, discussed and engaged with in greater depth. This includes, in particular, the European Green Deal as well as selected areas of environmental and climate protection law, energy law and traffic law.

Lecture-based communication of the foundations, content and context of essential legislative measures, an interactive in-depth study of the relevant legislative measures of the EU as well as the jurisprudence of the European Union Courts’.

Written exam at the end of the semester.
