Students will comprehend the fundamentals of European Union Law. They will be able to apply the basics of the latter to concret facts and business-related cases

Subject of this course shall be selected issues related to economic and commercial law particularly being of relevance as regards institutional and substantial European Union Law. That is, inter alia:

• Origins and development, structure and functioning of the EU (overview)

• Legislation, execution and legal protection (including state liability) of the EU (overview)

• Law of the EU (Union Law) and its relationship with the national laws of the Member States

• Fundamental rights and Union citizenship

• Internal Market (general principle of non-discrimination, fundamental freedoms and harmonisation of the law)

Presentation of the content by means of current and ongoing, real cases

Written exam held on the exam dates (as indicated) at the end of each semester; the overall grade is a combination of this course’s exam as well as the exam of the course „PS International Law: European Law“

Any relevant text book of „European Law“
