In this course, we will engage with one of the UKs most successful literary exports, namely the work of Jane Austen. We will talk about the ways in which her work has been adapted to the present and rediscover unexpected sides in reading the original. We will engage with the gender politics as well as the satirical edge and the attention paid to economic issues in the novels.

Short presentations and class discussions, expert groups, research assignments
participation in an expert group, continuous assessment of participation in class discussions, presentations, written assignments, seminar paper in the assessemnt of which special focus will be placed on the detail, originality, logical consistency, argumentative skill, use of primary material. This will, of course be practised in class.
