Colours are - and were - omnipresent. Investigations become exciting when you ask why and in what context which colours were used or could/must be used for which objects. This can reveal a great deal about a society. At the same time, we can also think of colour theory, which has been investigating the effects that colours can have on people since the Middle Ages.
The selection of sources to be analysed is wide-ranging: book illumination, fabrics, fashion and dress codes, uniforms, coats of arms, flags and orders, maps, house facades, furniture, scholarly treatises, paintings, magazines, caricatures, ...
The seminar assists and supports the Bachelor's Thesis regarding working skills and content. Short lectures, reading, discussing of articles and interactive presentations by the students.
Course with continuous assessment: regular attendance of the sessions, exercises, active participation in discussions, interactive oral presentations, written concept and Bachelor's Thesis (about 30 pages).
