Upon successful completion of this module, students will be able to describe and classify complex parallel computer architectures and programs, and select and adapt them according to given requirements. Common analysis and optimization methods are understood and can be implemented. Students are able to solve larger computational problems independently and efficiently on parallel computers.

Introduction to the most important and basic concepts of parallel computing, types and properties of parallel computers, performance metrics such as speedup and efficiency, programming in MPI, work and data distribution, program transformations and optimizations

Practical exercises

Combined (oral and written)

To be discussed in the seminar

Programming skills in C or C++
