706142 VU Mathematical Software for Physics Students
winter semester 2024/2025 | Last update: 08.07.2024 | Place course on memo listGraduates of this course have acquired the ability to use selected software and solve typical problems from the everyday life of a physics student and from other courses.
Introduction to scientific Python: Evaluation and fitting of data, and data visualization.
The acquired knowledge is applied in parallel to various examples of physics and related fields.
This includes on the one hand the treatment of mathematical problems from the basic physics lectures, but also the evaluation of data with regard to practical courses in experimental physics and problems from the field of astrophysics.
Lecture and Exercises
Written and oral contributions of the students will be evaluated throughout the course.
This course is mainly oriented towards the requirements of the bachelor's degree in physics.
General programming concepts will not be treated explicitly in this course. It is therefore recommended that the course "Programming for physics students" has already been attended.
