Course part 1: Knowledge of methods for the processing and classification of airborne laserscanning data.
Course part 2: Knowledge of the processing and classification of multispectral satellite images based on different classification approaches.
Course part 3: Knowledge of the most important programs, initiatives and institutions
with relevance for satellite-based Earth observation on national/european/international level
Course part 1: Introduction to laser scanning technology, working with laser scanning point clouds and raster derivatives, point to raster conversions, classification of point clouds, thinning of point clouds, 3D visualization, calculation of solar irradiance on surface models.
Course part 2: Introduction to multispectral satellite image analysis, spectral signature and feature space as a basis for classification, unsupervised and supervised classification, object-based classification
Course part 3: Trends, programs, and organizations related to Earth observation/remote sensing at the national, european and international level (e.g., Copernicus, GEO, ESA).
