Students are familiar with current aspects of soil microbiology, know different techniques of soil microbiology and are able to evaluate them critically.
On the basis of changing investigations (soils and climate change, pedogenesis in glacier foreland, sludge disposal, application of biozids, ...) biochemical, physical, microbiological and molecular methods are applied. The gained results are evaluated statistically (e.g. ANOVA, multiple regression analysis etc.) and discussed in group.
The methodological spectrum ranges from in-situ gas measurements, the assessment of biochemical, physical, microbiological and molecular parameters (e.g. substrate-induced respiration, ammonification, soil enzymes, colony count, MPN, fluorescence microscopy, DNA extraction, PCR, droplet-digital PCR, Amplicon-Sequencing, ...).

General preliminary meeting date: 01.10.2024 at 08.30-10 am in HS F.
The final selection will take place at the general preliminary meeting (attendance is compulsory).
