The students will learn how to design and organize science communication programs that will be implemented at outreach events organized by the university.
In this course, students learn to design and organize science communication events, using innovative approaches, e.g. Escape games, games, science slams. The projects developed within the course will be implemented in actual outreach events, such as Long Night of Science or Events at Schools.
Design and organization of the event
The students will design an outreach program for a specific event (e.g. lecture series, school science days) that will be announced at the beginning of the course. First, the students will be taught about innovative methods of sciencecommunication and receive training on event organization.
Networking
Given that these events are organized in collaboration with NYSE (link: https://www.uibk.ac.at/thphysik/nyse/ ) and the Innsbruck Physics Research Center (add), a strong component will be learning how to establish a network of scientists as volunteers for the events, as well as, collaborating with student associations, such as the ÖH or the StV Physik.
Advertisement and social media
The events will need to be advertised appropriately to reach as many attendants as possible. For that, the students will learn to establish an online presence, by means of webpage and social media.
Learning and training of networking, organization and communication techniques.
Feedback on the development and realization of the events.
Ongoing evaluation, in addition, a report that will be evaluated at the end of the course.
