The course provides an insight into the evolution of concepts of nature, starting from historical perspectives to contemporary and forward-thinking approaches, which are meta-cognitively reflected upon. This exploration takes place within the framework of Education for Sustainable Development, drawing inspiration from the concepts of Alexander and Wilhelm von Humboldt. During a three-day excursion, we explore specific locations in the Ötztal region. There, we contemplate the present relationship between humans and nature/environment, along with individual behaviors and thought patterns, aiming to nurture responsible development.
· Interactive lectures with group activities and discussions
· Writing workshops for a gradual creation of an excursion diary with prompts for meta-cognitive reflection
· Creative workshops led by students with a variety of interdisciplinary methods
· Introspection and walking meditation
· Derive method
· “Think - Pair – Share” and other micro-didactic methods
Throughout the excursion, shorter hikes (maximum approximately 3 hours) will also be included. These hikes require no special skills, only a basic level of fitness. Please ensure you bring appropriate hiking gear; further details will be provided during our first meeting. Should you have any questions, we are here to assist you.
Participants are invited to take part in a BEVI survey (Beliefs, Events, and Values Invetory, thttps://hebevi.com). The online participation takes place before and after the course and requires about 2x30 min. A discussion of the BEVI group results will be offered on request, depending on the interest of the participants.
