winter semester 2024/2025 | Last update: 11.09.2024 | Place course on memo listStudents are familiar with feminist-intersectional social theory and can relate it to their dissertation projects
The aim of this course is to discuss the foundations, aims and elements of a feminist-intersectional social theory. To this end, approaches from different theoretical perspectives (e.g. critical theory and materialist theory as well as feminist, queer, trans*, Black and postcolonial reconceptualizations of the same) will be read, discussed and brought in a dialogue with each other. In this way, answers to the question: "(Why) Is social theory still needed today?" - with reference to their own dissertation projects- will be discussed.
Close reading of texts, discussion and reflection of readings; inputs by instructors
Readings of texts, participation in discussion, short presentation of parts of the own dissertation with reference to the seminar topic
To be announced.
The seminar is primarily aimed at doctoral students of the Innsbruck Doctoral College “Gender and Gender Relations in Transformation: Spaces - Relations – Representations” as well as PhD students whose dissertation project is theoretically and thematically in the field of gender studies.
