The students acquire individual but broadly diversified knowledge and skills in various fields of architecture. They develop a strategic understanding for the integration of technical knowledge into the conception, planning, implementation and teaching of architecture.
Focus on the urban development of Innsbruck
The seminar concentrates on analysing particularly characteristic periods of Innsbruck's urban development, such as the Baroque period, which had a decisive influence on the cityscape with the expansion of the city across the Graben and its secular and sacred buildings, such as the Altes Landhaus or Wilten Monastery. The 19th and 20th centuries and their architectural heritage also form a focal point of the course. Tyrolean modernism as well as the planning and building of the Nazi era and the period after the Second World War with its pioneering innovations in form and construction will be discussed. In addition to dealing with buildings in a historical context and analysing them on site during excursions, the seminar also aims to present and apply methodological approaches.
Will be discussed in the first lesson.
