In-depth knowledge of the archive landscape in Tyrol, Austria and the German-speaking area. Insights into the holdings of the collections as well as an understanding of the structure and use of archives.

The archive studies in the winter semester 2021/22 are once again dedicated to architecture collections in Germany and abroad. Visiting and analysing selected archives that collect building materials is intended to sharpen our understanding of the development of architectural history and make the genesis of the resulting architecture museums comprehensible. Excursions to Munich and Vienna are planned.

Practical exercises on site. Guided tours of various archives by experienced staff.

Examination-based course with compulsory attendance; oral examination at the end of the semester
