winter semester 2024/2025 | Last update: 08.01.2025 | Place course on memo listIn-depth understanding of narrative approaches in architecture; ability to critically reflect on the state of research in architecture and mediation with and through space. Competences in interdisciplinary cooperation and project development. Implementation of literary content in a scenographic project that can fulfil ethical, scientific and artistic requirements.
his interdisciplinary course is aimed at students who are not only interested in their own future, but also in a positive future for society and want to make a contribution to this. Does this appeal to you? Then you should definitely attend our interdisciplinary course in which literary scholars and architects work together!
This course focuses on the topics of ‘war’ and ‘peace’. The approach is innovative: we learn, explore and discuss how these realities are processed artistically and creatively in literature and architecture, how they are received in the face of current global developments and how these resonances can also be communicated to a wider audience in the form of an exhibition to be developed jointly.
On our journey, we will meet actors, artists and ethicists who will inspire us, make us think and resonate with the texts together with us.
Why is a scientific-artistic experience of this kind important? Because the shaping of our future is shaped by both our cultural narratives and the physical environment in which we live. By combining literature and architecture, you will not only better understand creative processes, but also their deeper and lasting meanings and their impact on our society.
In our course, you will have the opportunity to learn, research and create together with experts from both disciplines. You will not only expand your knowledge, but also develop important skills such as interdisciplinary thinking, critical analysis and creative problem solving. Above all, by merging artistic and scientific techniques, you will learn to question and relativize your own ethical attitudes and social narratives and present them to a wider public for discussion in the form of an exhibition.
The focus is on texts from different eras (18th - 21st century) and different regions. The authors are personally affected by war. Their texts are personal responses to the catastrophe of war and an expression of their hope for peace. We deal with narratological and lyricological concepts of ‘space’, with historical and regional variations of the literary topos ‘war’ and with the central question of why we need utopias.
Invest in our common future and actively shape a world that is once again characterised by peace, understanding and innovation! Register now for our interdisciplinary course and become part of this inspiring journey!
