848356 VO Territorial Strategies and Sustainability
winter semester 2024/2025 | Last update: 19.08.2024 | Place course on memo listThe different perspectives of the selected themes are to be used to create designs that reflect a holistic approach.
The lecture series combines topics such as territorial strategies, sustainability, systems thinking, resilience, technological developments, user-centred approaches and multidisciplinary collaboration to promote resilient and sustainable environments through integrative design.
Living in extreme environments directs the focus to the essentials in architecture. Case studies from space habitats to polar research stations show how multidisciplinary approaches influence architectural design.
A focus on systems thinking that connects and relates elements to design environments and understand architecture in the context of urban planning and socio-cultural fabric.
Sustainability is addressed through case studies, including strategies for ecological footprint minimisation, renewable resource use and regenerative practices. Resilience emphasises adaptability to change through technology and flexible structures.
The needs of different users play a crucial role in designs for built environments.
Within the framework of individual lectures, we will approach the concepts of "territorial strategies" and "sustainability" in terms of integrative design.
The evaluation comprises both a written and an oral section. The written part spans a duration of 2 hours and requires the creation of up to 3 diagrams illustrating the relationships with other terms and content covered in the lecture series. The selection of terms to be addressed is determined by a lottery. After completing the written examination, examinees have the opportunity to orally present the created diagrams within 5 minutes to clarify the connections.
