Overview, of the concepts, methods, and theories of political ethics with emphasis on human rights and democracy. Topics covered in this course include: Liberalism and constitutional theory; Fundamental democratic rights and democratic citizenship; Discourse ethics and the culture of democratic contestation; Ethics of freedeom of expression; Ethics of resistance and protest; Media and the democratic public sphere; Politics as a profession; Ethics of punishment; "Just" violence, war, and international relations; Global justice and human rights.
