By the end of the course, doctoral students should have gained initial experience in publishing their research findings in the form of well-structured, scientifically sound texts. Building on this experience, they will attempt to independently conceptualise and draft promising proposals for external funding (in German and/or English). They will also develop a comprehensive understanding of the intersection between research funding and academic writing, enabling them to use both strategically in their career development.

Module 1: Academic Writing and Publication Strategies (in German and/or English): Doctoral students will learn the basics of academic writing, improve their ability to structure texts and enhance their skills in constructing sound arguments. The module will cover the following key areas: Aims and significance of academic writing; Different types of academic texts; Typical structure of academic papers; Logical flow and coherent argumentation.

Module 2: Synergies between grant writing and academic writing: How can grant writing and academic writing complement each other? This module focuses on the development of an advanced research project, guiding students through the formulation of research questions, objectives and methods. This process builds on and extends their own research findings from previously published work.

Interactive elements: 1) Peer feedback: Participants provide feedback on each other's project ideas, proposals and written texts. 2) Group work: Collaborative development of funding proposals and discussion of academic texts. 3) Practical exercises: Based on concrete case studies, participants will actively work on the implementation of their project and writing ideas. 4) Application and discussion of language models and knowledge graphs in the context of AI-supported research.
