Module 1: Argumentation ( 7.5 ECTS-Credits, 3 h) (no courses)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: The students have detailed knowledge of the discipline's theories and are able to compare them critically and apply them to analyse different phenomena in argumentative texts.
Module 3: Onomastics (7.5 ECTS-Credits, 3 h) (no courses)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: Broad knowledge of Onomastics and corresponding knowledge in terms of methodology and source studies. Competence to work on an onomastic topic independently and critically.
Module 4: Language and Thinking (7.5 ECTS-Credits, 3 h) (no courses)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: Specialised knowledge of terms, theories and methodological approaches to the interaction of Language and Thinking; problem awareness in terms of the relationship between Language and Thinking.
Module 7: Additional Language Course: Specialization (5 ECTS-Credits) (no courses)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: Specialised knowledge of an Indo-Germanic or a non-Indo-Germanic language intended to broaden the students' linguistic horizon.
Two language courses of 2.5 ECTS-AP each or one language course of 5 ECTS-AP may be taken in order to learn an Indo-Germanic or non-Indo- Germanic language.
Module 8: Feminist Linguistics (5 ECTS-Credits, 2 h) (no courses)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: Familiarity with terms, theories and methodological approaches of Feminist Linguistics. Acquisition of knowledge about the discipline's ongoing research discourse.
Module 9: Master Thesis Defense (2.5 ECTS-Credits) (no courses)
Prerequisites for registration: Positive completion of all other compulsory and elective modules as well as the Master Thesis.
Learning Outcome: Examination of the Master Thesis in the overall context of the Master of Arts programme in Linguistics, with special focus on theoretical comprehension, methodological issues, communication of findings of the Master Thesis and presentation skills.
Final oral defense of the Master Thesis in front of an examination board.
