Module 16: Spanish Literature, History and Society (7.5 ECTS-Credits, 4 h)
Prerequisites for registration: Positive completion of compulsory modules 3, 7 and 8.
Learning Outcome: Through the module "Literatura, historia y sociedad en Espana" the students are familiar with the various periods of Spanish literary history with close attention to the main political and social developments. With special attention to all the genres, they have practised analytical and interpretational competences with examples which go back to the literary science competences acquired in the "Basics". Students are made aware of the dynamic relations between literature, politics and society and can make topics out of the meaning of literature for the collective memory and out of questions of national identity.
Module 17: Latin America and its Literature (7.5 ECTS-Credits, 4 h)

Prerequisites for registration: Positive completion of compulsory module 16.
Learning Outcome: Students of the module "América latina y sus literaturas" know the espanophone literatures and cultures outside Spain, Latin America, the Caribbean. They are also familiar with questions of post colonial studies, migration problems, cultural contacts and transfers and also with the problems of identity and differences and take into consideration relevant aspects of cultural studies that lead to a better understanding of espanophone cultures.
Module 18: Literature and Cultural Perspectives (15 ECTS-Credits, 4 h)
Prerequisites for registration: Positive completion of compulsory module 16.
Learning Outcome: In the module "Literatura y perspectivas culturales" the students have acquired enhanced knowledge of Spanish and Latin American literature of the 20th and 21st centuries and have dealt with topics like literature and other arts subjects text and music, literature and film. Through their reading list they are familiar with the important works of the literary canon.
