Elective Module 1: Advanced Botany I (7.5 ECTS-Credits, 5 h) (no courses)
Prerequisites for registration: positive completion of compulsory module 2
Learning Outcome: Students have basic knowledge in the areas of palaoecology, the diversity of lower plants, of culture and adventive plants, of the vegetation of Central Europe and the ecology of the forest boundaries.
Elective Module 3: Functional Plant Biology I (7.5 ECTS-Credits, 5 h) (no courses)
Prerequisites for registration: positive completion of compulsory modules 2, 4 and 7
Learning Outcome: Students have basic theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the areas of the physiology and ecophysiology of plants.
Elective Module 5: Functional Body Plans of Selected Animal Groups (7.5 ECTS-Credits, 5 h) (no courses)
Prerequisites for registration: positive completion of compulsory modules 2 and 8
Learning Outcome: Students can apply knowledge which leads in practice to the organisation plan of selected animal groups.
Elective Module 9: Methods in Microbiology (7.5 ECTS-Credits, 5 h) (no courses)
Prerequisites for registration: positive completion of compulsory modules 2 and 11
Learning Outcome: Students have knowledge of the methodological basics of microbiology and can apply this to do their own experiments. Students are urgently advised to do this module if they wish to do the Master Programme in Microbiology at the University of Innsbruck.
Elective Module 10: Medical Microbiology (7.5 ECTS-Credits, 5 h) (no courses)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: Students have knowledge of the aspects of microbiology that are relevant for medicine.
Elective Module 12: Microbial Ecology (7.5 ECTS-Credits, 5 h) (no courses)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: Students have an understanding of the ecological basics and the interactions of microorganisms.
Elective Module 13: Methods in Ecology (7.5 ECTS-Credits, 5 h) (no courses)
Prerequisites for registration: positive completion of compulsory modules 2 and 5A
Learning Outcome: Students develop a basic understanding of modern measurement methods and the use of computers in ecology. Students are urgently advised to do this module if they wish to do the Master Programme in Ecology and Biodiversity at the University of Innsbruck.
Elective Module 15: Functional Ecology (7.5 ECTS-Credits, 5 h) (no courses)
Prerequisites for registration: positive completion of compulsory module 2 and elective module 13
Learning Outcome: Students have in theory and practice the basic knowledge and skills for the functional aspects of ecology.
Elective Module 17: Molecular Biology III (7.5 ECTS-Credits, 5 h) (no courses)
Prerequisites for registration: positive completion of compulsory modules 2, 4, 14 and 15
Learning Outcome: Students are able to make practical use of the methods of molecular biology. This module is urgently recommended to students wishing to do the Master Programme Molecular Cellular and Developmental Biology of the University of Innsbruck.
Elective Module 18: Molecular Biology IV (7.5 ECTS-Credits, 5 h) (no courses)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: Students have knowledge of the cell and molecular-biological regulation mechanisms.
Elective Module 20D: Cellphysiology (7.5 ECTS-Credits, 5 h) (no courses)
Prerequisites for registration: positive completion of compulsory module 2
Learning Outcome: Students can use cell-biological methods for working on specific issues through selected issues.
