Learning Outcome: Broadening and deepening of subject¿specific skills in the area of Ancient History by
examination of new and unfamiliar topics with reference to current research tendencies and controversies. Implementation of scientific competence (methods and work techniques) and incorporation with content, development of qualifications to autonomous historical reasoning.

Learning Outcome: Enhancement and specialisation by examination of new and unfamiliar topics in Ancient History with reference to current research tendencies and controversies, competent use of scientific methods and work techniques, integration of contents; development of qualifications in autonomous unbiased historical reasoning.
Module 3: Languages and Cultures (7.5 ECTS-Credits, 4 h)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: Broadening and deepening of general knowledge by dealing with exemplary topics, i.e. societies and languages of the Middle East and the Mediterranean as well as their interactions.
Module 4: Current Issues in Ancient History Research (7.5 ECTS-Credits, 2 h)

Prerequisites for registration: positive completion of the module selected for the topic of the Master Thesis
Learning Outcome: Presentation of the research conceptual design used and becoming familiar with peer review; examination of one's own scientific work and communication of findings, practice of constructive handling of critique.
Module 5: Theory of Gender Relations (7.5 ECTS-Credits, 4 h)

Prerequisites for registration: positive completion of all other compulsory and elective modules as well as the Master Thesis
Learning Outcome: Examination of the Master thesis in the overall context of the Master programme in
Ancient History and Ancient Oriental Studies; with special focus on theoretical
comprehension, methodical issues, communication of findings of the Master thesis and presentation skills.
