Module 3: Historical and Social Basics for Psychology (5 ECTS-Credits, 4 h)
Prerequisites for registration: Positive completion of compulsory module 1.
Learning Outcome: Students learn that psychic phenomena and their scientific explanations are usually not independent of cultural and social conditions nor of historical changes. Students acquire an overview of important historical developments in psychology. They also develop an understanding of the social constitution of gender and its importance for the psychic experience and behaviour. They are made aware of the inequalities between women and men in our society.
Module 4: Statistics A (10 ECTS-Credits, 7 h)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: Students acquire knowledge of descriptive statistics and of the most important procedures of inference statistics like, for example, T-Test for independent and dependent samples, Mann-Whitney-U-Test, Chi Quadrat-procedures, product-moment-correlation, linear regression, rank correlation, phi-efficient.
Module 5: Statistics B (5 ECTS-Credits, 4 h)

Prerequisites for registration: Positive completion of compulsory modules 1 and 4.
Learning Outcome: Students acquire knowledge of variance analysis (one-factorial and multi-factorial experimental design, variance analysis with repeated measurements) and multi-variance procedures (multiple regression analysis and factorial analysis) and are capable of applying them. Parallel to this, knowledge of computer-assisted data evaluation is acquired.
Module 6: Psychological Methods (5 ECTS-Credits, 4 h)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: Students develop fundamental skills in the description and collection of psychological data, through their observation and description thereof. Moreover, they also acquire experience of various qualitative methods (methods of field work, case studies, discursive psychology, ethnographical and biographical approaches, Grounded Theory).
Module 7: General Psychology A (10 ECTS-Credits, 6 h)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: Students acquire a broad knowledge of the psychology of perception and thinking and are equipped with independent critical reflection of cognitive psychological content. They get to know and understand practice-relevant general psychological knowledge and understand that general psychology is the basis of the single discipline of psychology and the factor that binds them.
Module 8: General Psychology B (10 ECTS-Credits, 6 h)
Prerequisites for registration: Positive completion of compulsory modules 1, 4 and 7.
Learning Outcome: Students acquire broad knowledge of general psychology, as presented in module 8, and they also acquire an understanding of the basic structures and processes that influence human life and behaviour. They develop basic skills in the application of experimental empirical research methods. Moreover, they are capable of independent and critical reflection on the general psychological contents with which they are presented.
Module 9: Biological Psychology A (10 ECTS-Credits, 6 h)
Prerequisites for registration: Positive completion of compulsory modules 1 and 7.
Learning Outcome: Students acquire knowledge of the fundamental bases of psychic functions, (e.g. perception, emotion, language, awareness) and their development and disturbances as well as the acquisition of psychologically relevant basic knowledge of an anatomical, physiological and biochemical nature. They acquire knowledge of cognitive neuro-scientific relations and structures on a molecular, cellular, individual, and social level.
Module 10: Biological Psychology B (5 ECTS-Credits, 4 h)
Prerequisites for registration: Positive completion of compulsory modules 1 and 7.
Learning Outcome: Students develop an understanding of individual aspects of biological psychology with special attention to multi-disciplinary approaches and methods. They also acquire basic knowledge of the most important research areas of human ethnology.
Module 11: Developmental Psychology (10 ECTS-Credits, 7 h)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: Students acquire knowledge of the psychic development of the whole lifespan and its biological, social and cultural bases.
Module 12: Psychology of Personality and Individual Differences (10 ECTS-Credits, 6 h)
Prerequisites for registration: Positive completion of compulsory modules 1 and 4.
Learning Outcome: Students learn the variety of possible ways of describing personality and explaining individual differences. They also acquire knowledge of historical and present-day approaches in the subject. They develop an understanding of concepts such as personality stability, the interaction between inherited and acquired faculties and typical methodological forms of action. Students learn how to understand the relations between personality theories and the socio-cultural conditions behind psychological theories concerning individual personality differences. After completing the compulsory modules, students are able to apply a complex understanding of personality to themselves and others.
Module 13: Social Psychology (10 ECTS-Credits, 6 h)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: Students acquire an overview of the most important theories of social psychology and the empirical findings linked to it and they are capable of analyzing psychological issues from a socio-psychological perspective. Students develop an understanding of the social determination of psychological processes and the role of such processes in social interaction and relationships.
Module 14: Basic and Applied Subjects (5 ECTS-Credits, 4 h)
Prerequisites for registration: Positive completion of compulsory modules 1, 5 and 6.
Learning Outcome: Presented with special problem issues of basic research, clinical psychology and applied psychology, students are able to deal autonomously with specialist psychological literature and to analyse psychological problem issues.
Module 15: Diagnostics (10 ECTS-Credits, 6 h)
Prerequisites for registration: Positive completion of compulsory modules 1 and 4.
Learning Outcome: After completing this module, students possess an overview of various different methods of acquiring diagnostical information and they are equipped to evaluate diagnostical methods critically. With help, they can carry out diagnostical procedures in line with the established standards of diagnostics and present them in the form of diagnostic findings.
Module 16: Fundamentals of Clinical Psychology (10 ECTS-Credits, 6 h)
Prerequisites for registration: Positive completion of compulsory modules 1 and 11.
Learning Outcome: Students acquire knowledge of the most important paradigms of clinical psychology and of the various different psychic disturbances and the basic psychic conditions, they know the diagnostic criteria of various psychic disturbances and their etiology. The acquired knowledge should be transferred to concrete case studies.
Module 17: Introduction to Psychopathology (5 ECTS-Credits, 4 h)
Prerequisites for registration: Positive completion of compulsory modules 1 and 4.
Learning Outcome: Students acquire basic knowledge of psychic disturbances from a psychiatric point of view, in particular of affective and psychotic disturbances like addictions. Students are equipped to understand psychic disturbances from a multi-dimensional perspective in their biological, psychological and social components.
Module 18: Fundamentals of Applied Psychology (10 ECTS-Credits, 6 h)
Prerequisites for registration: Positive completion of compulsory modules 1, 5 and 6.
Learning Outcome: Students are equipped to analyse psychologically and to evaluate work activities and organisations that are orientated to the human criteria of individual safety, support and development and reasonable standards. They acquire knowledge of basic industrial and organisational theories and methods and their application to working practice. After completing this module, the students also possess basic competences in other fields of applied psychology (e.g.: pedagogical psychology, health psychology, etc.).
Module 19: Research Practice (17.5 ECTS-Credits, 4 h)
Prerequisites for registration: Positive completion of compulsory modules 1, 5 and 6.
Learning Outcome: On the basis of the state of research in the subject, students are equipped to develop their own survey questions, to draw up suitable survey plans and to choose their own methods to present the findings of their survey and to discuss them.
