Compulsory Module 2: Language and Grammar Theory (7.5 ECTS-Credits, 3 h) (no courses)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: Understanding relevant modern Language and Grammar Theories; competence to apply, analyse and criticise the corresponding models.
Compulsory Module 3: Onomastics (7.5 ECTS-Credits, 3 h) (no courses)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: Specialised onomnastic knowledge and corresponding knowledge with regards to meth-odological and source-scientific terms; high level of competence to independently and critically work on and present an onomastic topics.
Compulsory Module 5: Language Change and Evolution (7.5 ECTS-Credits, 3 h) (no courses)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: High level of understanding of the cognitive fundamentals of human language; acquisi-tion of specialised knowledge of the laws of language change and development scenarios for human language; ability to independently apply this acquired knowledge.
Compulsory Module 9: Language Acquisition Research (7.5 ECTS-Credits, 3 h) (no courses)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: High level of familiarity with terms, theories and methodological approaches to language acquisition research, acquisition of specialised knowledge of the current discussion in research in the discipline and competence to independently apply this knowledge;
Compulsory Module 10: Master Thesis Defense (2.5 ECTS-Credits) (no courses)
Prerequisites for registration: Positive completion of all other compulsory and elective modules as well as the Master Thesis.
Learning Outcome: Examination of the Master Thesis in the overall context of the Master of Arts programme in Linguistics, with special focus on theoretical comprehension, methodological issues, communication of findings of the Master Thesis and presentation skills.
Final oral defense of the Master Thesis in front of an examination board.
