Compulsory Module 17: History of French Literature and Culture (5 ECTS-Credits, 4 h)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: Students get an overview of the French literary and cultural history by studying
representative authors and works; understanding of complex cultural relationships and
interactions between society, cultural-historical and artistic developments; knowledge of
basic terminology of literary and cultural science and basic methods of text/media analysis; Exemplary application of methods learned and exemplary advancement of interpretational skills by writing several shorter academic texts;
Compulsory Module 18: Francophone Literatures and Cultures (10 ECTS-Credits, 4 h)
Prerequisites for registration: positive completion of compulsory modules 6 and 17
Learning Outcome: Students get an overview of the French literary and cultural history by studying
representative authors and works; understanding of complex cultural relationships and
interactions between society, cultural-historical and artistic developments and their relevance for today; differentiated understanding of cultural processes, which aims at enabling the students to critically analyse medial representations (literature or film or music) in consideration of independently researched secondary literature
Compulsory Module 19: Literature: Independent Study (10 ECTS-Credits, 1 h)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: Students acquire in-depth knowledge of French literature by independent reading of primary as well as secondary literature and are able to participate in discussions on the texts (as in the working group).
