Learning Outcome: Knowledge of pragmatics and text linguistics acquisition of the ability to order historically and to assess critically and to create pragmatic and text linguistic analyses.
Compulsory Module 6: Semantics and Lexicology (7.5 ECTS-Credits, 3 h) (no courses)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: Overview knowledge of semantics and lexicology, acquisition of the ability to understand and use relevant specialist vocabulary; knowledge of different processes of lexical and semantic change; ability to differentiate between different types of semantics; knowledge of synchronic and diachronic aspects of the lexicon
Compulsory Module 10: Rhetoric (7.5 ECTS-Credits, 3 h) (no courses)

Learning Outcome: Knowledge of basic terms and the terminology used in rhetoric; competence to analyse speeches with regards to the argumentative, stylistic and non-verbal techniques used

Learning Outcome: Students can integrate and give an account of the developments in Indo-Germanic or historic linguistics. They are able to apply the method of reconstruction.

Learning Outcome: Students understand issues relating to language and gender and are able to independently recognise phenomena in language system and use and to analyse them by applying theoretical concepts.
