Module 1: Introduction to the Study of History I: Working Methods (7.5 ECTS-Credits, 4 h) (no courses)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: The acquisition of key qualifications needed for the successful completion of pro-seminars and seminars; the acquisition of communicative and presentational competencies, knowledge and practical use of subject-specific working methods as well as the fundamental rules of academic work.
Module 2: Introduction to the Study of History II: Theories, Methods and History of the Historical Sciences (7.5 ECTS-Credits, 4 h) (no courses)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: Insights into the conditionality of one's own previous understanding of history and into the border limits set between an academic subject and a popular science and in the initial orientation of the sub-disciplines of the subject and its limits: an understanding of the scientific nature of the subject; develop an understanding of philosophical-historical issues; key qualification: methodological competence.
Module 9: Scientific Research in Ancient History (7.5 ECTS-Credits, 3 h) (no courses)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: Acquisition of competences in dealing with historical sources and secondary literature on Ancient History as well as the ability to present the newly-acquired knowledge in oral or written form; the acquisition of awareness and the use of relevant scientific methods; acquisition of an awareness of the forms of historical self-display and the ability to present historical relationships on-site.
Module 10: Scientific Research in Medieval History (7.5 ECTS-Credits, 3 h) (no courses)
Prerequisites for registration: positive completion of compulsory module 1
Learning Outcome: Acquisition of competences in dealing with historical sources and secondary literature on Medieval History as well as the ability to present the newly-acquired knowledge in oral or written form; the acquisition of awareness and the use of relevant scientific methods; acquisition of an awareness of the forms of historical self-display and the ability to present historical relationships on-site.
Module 12: Scientific Research in Economic and Social History (7.5 ECTS-Credits, 3 h) (no courses)
Prerequisites for registration: positive completion of compulsory module 1
Learning Outcome: Acquisition of competences in dealing with historical sources and secondary literature on Economic and Social History as well as the ability to present the newly-acquired knowledge in oral or written form; the acquisition of awareness and the use of relevant scientific methods; acquisition of an awareness of the forms of historical self-display and the ability to present historical relationships on-site.
Module 13: Scientific Research in Austrian History (7.5 ECTS-Credits, 3 h) (no courses)
Prerequisites for registration: positive completion of compulsory module 1
Learning Outcome: Acquisition of competences in dealing with historical sources and secondary literature on Austrian History as well as the ability to present the newly-acquired knowledge in oral or written form; the acquisition of awareness and the use of relevant scientific methods; acquisition of an awareness of the forms of historical self-display and the ability to present historical relationships on-site.
Module 14: Scientific Research in Contemporary History (7.5 ECTS-Credits, 3 h) (no courses)

Learning Outcome: Acquisition of competences in dealing with historical sources and secondary literature on Contemporary History as well as the ability to present the newly-acquired knowledge in oral or written form; the acquisition of awareness and the use of relevant scientific methods; acquisition of an awareness of the forms of historical self-display and the ability to present historical relationships on-site.
Module 17: Philosophy of Science (7.5 ECTS-Credits, 4 h) (no courses)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: Understanding of the scientific and theoretical issues through reading and discussing together appropriate classical and/or innovative texts of historiography, knowledge of the development trends of research and criticism of paradigms.
