Compulsory Module 20: Countries and Cultures of the Spanish-speaking area (5 ECTS-Credits, 5 h)

Learning Outcome: Students have
- knowledge of Spanish-speaking areas in the fields: geography, economy, history,
institutions (in politics, administration, media, education, religion, language politics,
arts/culture, international relations)
- knowledge and reflection on problems like nation and identity politics, transcultural
society, memory cultures, media landscape, language policy etc. and the appropriate
concepts of cultural studies
- an understanding of the medial character and relativity of culture
- ability to safely and critically deal with the different media of social communication
