Compulsory Module 4: Preparation of the Master's Thesis (7.5 ECTS-Credits) (no courses)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: After successful completion of this module, the students will be able to write a brief summary of the content of the planned Master's Thesis (exposé), to outline an anticipated schedule and toconclude a written Master's Thesis agreement.
Agreement on the topic, the scope and the form of the Master's Thesis on the basis of a brief summary of the contents (abstract) as well as agreement on the work processes and the study progress. Planning of an appropriate time frame for the completion of the Master's Thesis.
Compulsory Module 5: Defence of the Master's Thesis (2.5 ECTS-Credits) (no courses)
Prerequisites for registration: the successful completion of all other compulsory and elective modules as well as the positive assessment of the thesis.

Elective Module 7: Particle Traps and Laser Cooling (5 ECTS-Credits, 3 h) (no courses)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: Graduates of this module are expected to understand and explain the content of the course, and to be able to apply the methods of the course. They should acquire the ability to further develop the contents and methods of Particle Traps and Laser Cooling by themselves. Furthermore, they should acquire a basic understanding of Particle Traps and Laser Cooling.

Learning Outcome: Graduates of this module are expected to understand and explain the content of the course, and to be able to apply the methods of the course. They should acquire the ability to further develop topics in Research Management by themselves. Furthermore, they should acquire a basic understanding of Research Management.
Elective Module 23: Introduction to Scientific Research in Ion, Plasma and Energy Physics (5 ECTS-Credits, 2 h) (no courses)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: Graduates of this module are expected to understand and explain the content of the course, and to be able to apply the methods of the course. They should acquire the ability to further develop topics in the field of Ion, Plasma and Energy Physics by themselves. Furthermore, they should acquire a basic understanding for scientific research in those fields.
Elective Module 29: Special Course 2 (AT) (5 ECTS-Credits, 2 h) (no courses)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: Graduates of this module are expected to understand and explain the content of the course, and to be able to apply the methods of the course. They should acquire the ability to develop further concepts of Astroparticle Physics by themselves. Furthermore, they should acquire a deeper understanding of selected topics in Astroparticle Physics.
Every student has to supply lecture courses with 15 ECTS-Credits out of the Bachelor or Master Programme in Technical Mathematics; those courses must not be contained in the compulsory courses in the Bachelor or Master Programme in Physics.
Elective Module 35: Advanced Courses in Mathematics (15 ECTS-Credits) (no courses)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: In the major field of study 'Computational Physics' students have to acquire advanced knowlegde in Mathematics.
