Elective modules covering 30 ECTS-Credits are to be passed: - Students of the Bachelor's Programme German Philology may not select elective module 1. - Students of the Bachelor's Programme History may not select elective module 2. - Students of the Bachelor's Programme Philosophy at the Faculty of Philosophy and History may not select elective module 3. - Students of the Bachelor's Programme Art History may not select elective module 4. - Students of the Bachelor's Programme Classica et Orientalia may not select elective module 5. - Students of the Bachelor's Programme Archaeology may not select elective modules 6 and 7. - Students of the Bachelor's Programme Music Studies may not select elective module 8.
Minor: Medieval Studies (30 ECTS-Credits)
Prerequisites for registration: The Minor "Medieval Studies" covering 30 ECTS-Credits may be selected by regular degree students of bachelor's programmes at the University of Innsbruck if the respective curriculum provides the possibility to pass a Minor. The individual modules and courses of the Minor "Medieval Studies" may be studied, providing the availability of places.
Learning Outcome: Graduates of the Minor "Medieval Studies" know fundamental theories, methods and contents of medieval studies. They are able to grasp these from different perspectives, reflect on them and relate them to their own subject. Thanks to their thematic focus on this field, they also have an overview of medieval studies through the interdisciplinary breadth, the multi-perspective approach to different areas of medieval studies and the transdisciplinary way of thinking and working on medieval objects and questions.

Elective Module 3: Medieval Philosophy (10 ECTS-Credits; 4 h) (no courses)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: Knowledge of the history of philosophy of the Middle Ages in overview form; ability to competently interpret philosophical texts in their historical context and as a source for contemporary questions and problem solving
Elective Module 6: Archaeology - Late Antiquity and Early Middle Ages (10 ECTS-Credits; 4 h) (no courses)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: Acquisition of a sound basic knowledge and exemplary advanced knowledge about Late Antiquity and the Early Middle Ages
Elective Module 8: Epochs of Musical History I (5 ECTS-Credits; 4 h) (no courses)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: Students possess comprehensive factual knowledge, repertoire knowledge and an advanced knowledge of the music of Antiquity and the Middle Ages.
Elective Module 9: Church History and Canon Law (10 ECTS-AP; 6 SSt.) (no courses)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: The students know the historical development of Christianity from the beginning to the Middle Ages. They can independently present central events in church history in their social and theological context on a high theoretical level. The students can independently present the historical development, theological justification, the method and basic norms of the law of the Roman Catholic Church and the Eastern Catholic Churches in their internal structure and in relation to the state on a high theoretical level
