Elective Module 17: Ancient History II (10 ECTS-Credits, 4 h)

Learning Outcome: The students have extended specialist knowledge in Ancient History through the examination of new topics, taking into account current research trends. They have a repertoire of methods to independently analyse, critically evaluate and theoretically reflect on ancient sources and research literature. They are able to scientifically determine the relationship between ancient materials and (post)modern historiography.

Learning Outcome: The students have acquired knowledge of a further language that is relevant for the research in ancient studies or the study of the respective cultural area, e.g. Afro-Asian, Old Iranian or Old Anatolian languages. They have knowledge of the history of the corresponding cultural area and are capable of dealing with text-relevant topics, taking into account current research trends and controversies.
