Compulsory Module 1: Introduction to the Pastoral Ministry (4 ECTS-AP; 2 SSt.)
Prerequisites for registration: Graduates learn about the pastoral theological approach to the Pastoral Ministry Introductory Year and are able to learn independently. They learn to reflect on the experiences made during this programme in terms of the context of their own biography and in terms of theological science.
Compulsory Module 2: Professional Experience (28 ECTS-Credits; 2 h)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: Within the scope of their Professional Experience graduates gain and reflect on first professional experiences made as full-time employees of the Catholic Church and can advance their competences in the different fields of pastoral care on the levels of personal, social, spiritual, theological, methodological and institutional competences.
Compulsory Module 3: Challenges of Pastoral Ministry (5 ECTS-Credits; 4 h)

Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: Graduates learn to be aware of challenges of pastoral care in their resp. community, collect first perceptions and prepare a presentation of their results. They formulate theological topics based on the presented perceptions, which will then be dealt with in other modules in a problem-orientated way.
Compulsory Module 4: Pastoral Project (4 ECTS-Credits; 3 h)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: Graduates are able to independently devise, realize and evaluate a pastoral project, which is limited in time, in the community of their professional experience, based on the presented perceptions.
Compulsory Module 5: Structure and Person (5 ECTS-Credits; 3 h)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: Graduates are able to constructively deal with the structural frame conditions of pastoral care in the current transformational crisis of the Church. Graduates learn about the theological foundations of a pastoral spirituality, which enable a fulfilling lifestyle for persons with pastoral professions. They specifically develop a sensitiveness for gender-specific aspects.
Compulsory Module 6: Basic Dimensions of Pastoral Ministry (5 ECTS-Credits; 4 h)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: Graduates are able to deal with topics, which relate to the basic dimensions of the Church ¿ Koinonia (community), Liturgia (church service), Diakonia (service to people), Martyria (Annunciation) - in a theological fashion and use them for pastoral care.
Compulsory Module 7: Final Paper (2 ECTS-Credits; 1 h)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: Graduates are able to develop drafts for their final papers with the help of analyses by and discussions with colleagues.
Final Paper (7 ECTS-Credits)

Learning Outcome: A final paper as specified by the director of the continuing education programme must be written. It serves as proof of one¿s ability to critically take up the challenges of pastoral care (presentation of the perceptions made in the community of the professional experience), to independently implement and scientifically evaluate a pastoral project (presentation of a practical project) and to appreciate one¿s own learning process with a summary (reflection based on a learning diary). The final thesis covers 7 ECTS-Credits.
