Compulsory Module 2: Pharmacognosy - Biogenous Drugs (12.5 ECTS-Credits, 8 h) (no courses)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: Students are able to describe the most important medicinal plants in terms of their morphological features and typical ingredients or their use. They know the mechanisms underlying the effects and potential dangers. They are able to apply pharmacopoeias for identity, purity and content testing to determine the quality of selected herbal drugs in a testing laboratory.
Compulsory Module 3: Pharmacology and Drug Therapy I (10 ECTS- Credits, 5 h) (no courses)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: Students are able to describe the evidence-based drug therapy of major diseases and non-medical adjuvant / alternative therapies, including diet modification. They cover pharmacoeconomic fundamentals and the principles of medication management, personalised drug therapy, drug safety and disease prevention. The contents of technical and usage information can be explained.
Compulsory Module 4: Pharmaceutical Chemistry (5 ECTS-Credits, 2 h) (no courses)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: The students have basic knowledge of drug discovery, drug design and drug development. They recognise structure-based mechanisms of drug action and can demonstrate their action and target interactions based on the physicochemical properties of selected drugs. They are able to classify drugs based on their chemical affinity and derive general activity spectra.
Compulsory Module 9: Chemical Diagnostics II(7,5 ECTS-Credits, 6 h) (no courses)
Prerequisites for registration: positive completion of compulsory module 8
Learning Outcome: Students can demonstrate their knowledge of important biochemical and clinical chemistry (urinalysis, substrate concentration, enzyme activity and metabolite determinations, pregnancy tests and various rapid tests).
Compulsory Module 13: Master's Thesis (2.5 ECTS-Credits) (no courses)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: After successful completion of this module, the students will be able to write a brief summary of the content of the planned Master's Thesis (abstract), to outline an antici-pated schedule and to conclude a written Master's Thesis agreement.
Agreement on the topic, the scope and the form of the Master's Thesis on the basis of a brief summary of the contents (abstract) as well as agreement on the work processes and the study progress. Planning of an appropriate time frame for the completion of the Master's Thesis.
Compulsory Module 14: Master's Thesis Defense (2.5 ECTS-Credits) (no courses)
Prerequisites for registration: positive completion of all other compulsory and elective modules as well as the Master's Thesis
Learning Outcome: Reflection of the Master's Thesis in the overall contexts of the Master' Programme; The focus is on theoretical understanding, methodological foundations, imparting the results of the Master's Thesis as well as presentation skills.
