Elective modules covering a total of 25 ECTS-Credits are to be passed. - Students of the Bachelor's Programme in German Philology may not select elective module 1. - Students of the Bachelor's Programme in French, Italian and Spanish may not select elective module 3. - Students of the Bachelor's Secondary School Teacher Training in the subject of English may not select elective module 4a. - Students of the Bachelor's Programme in Comparative Literature may not select elective modules 5 and 6. - Students of the Bachelor's Programme in Slavonic Studies may not select elective module 7. - Students of the Bachelor's Secondary School Teacher Training in the subject of Russian may not select elective module 7b.

Elective module 2: Synchronic Linguistics (5 ECTS-Credits, 2 h) (no courses)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: Students have in-depth knowledge of an exemplary sub-area of synchronic linguistics. They have insight into the functioning/use of language in general and French/Italian/Spanish in particular. They have competences in independent scientific-empirical work and formulation of results as well as in lecture and presentation techniques.
Elective module 5: Media Analysis and Intermediality (5 ECTS-Credits, 2 h) (no courses)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: Knowledge of terms in media analysis, media theory and intermediality theory; competence to apply intermedial and media-specific methods of analysis (e.g. film analysis)
Elective module 8: Film in Eastern/Central/South-Eastern Europe (5 ECTS-Credits, 2 h) (no courses)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: Based on specific problems, students can present and explain the aesthetics of film, pertinent methodological approaches as well as the history of film in Eastern Europe.
