Elective Module 1: Applied Cultural Studies (5 ECTS-Credtis, 2 h) (no courses)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: Students can get an insight in professional life outside of universities, if the course cooperates with non-university institutions/persons (journalism, publishing houses, project management, cultural businesses¿). If the course is an internal university course students are introduced to practical-oriented scientific analysis and gain in-depth cultural studies knowledge.
Elective Module 2: Diachronic Linguistics (5 ECTS-Credits, 2 h) (no courses)
Prerequisites for registration: positive completion of compulsory module 13
Learning Outcome: Students know about the evolution of the Italian language with regards to its phonetic, morphological, syntactical and lexical development. They are familiar with the most important historic texts and the intellectual, political and social factors which had major impact on the history of the language.
Elective Module 4: Literature from a Global Perspective (I) (5 ECTS-Credits, 2 h) (no courses)
Prerequisites for registration: positive completion of compulsory module 16
Learning Outcome: Students have exemplary knowledge of the Italian literature and culture from a transnational or transcontinental perspective or the processes of cultural transfer relating to the works of Italian literature or film. They are familiar with questions of migration, cultural contact and cultural transfer, with the complex of problems of social inequality or regional and milieuspecific diverging types of identity resp. as well as with possible aesthetic strategies for addressing them. With this they consider aspects relevant to cultural studies that contribute to a better understanding of Italophone cultures from a global perspective.
Elective Module 5: Literature and Other Media (I) (5 ECTS-Credits, 2 h) (no courses)
Prerequisites for registration: positive completion of compulsory module 16
Learning Outcome: Students have in-depth knowledge of selected areas of Italian literature or film resp. and/or other media (opera, chanson, comics, graphic novel and similar) or of the transformation processes, which can be observed when a literary work is transferred to another medium or other media. They also gain an up-to-date insight into the respective theories.
Elective Module 7: Excursion (5 ECTS-Credits, 2 h) (no courses)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: Students get an insight into specific aspects of an Italophone country. Excursions can focus on linguistics, literary studies or cultural studies.
Elective Module 8: Work Experience Abroad (20 ECTS-Credits) (no courses)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: Working in a pertinent economic business or an educational institution, students get in-depth insights into specific aspects of an Italophone Country.
Work in an institution/company in an Italian-speaking country covering 500 actual hours. The work experience can be passed from the second semester onwards. Before starting the work experience it must be approved by the Director of Studies. Appointments as language assistant by the Ministry of Education of the Italophone guest country are deemed to be approved without further inspection. The completion of the work experience must be confirmed by the institution/company and with a work report.
Elective Module 9: Individual Choice of Specialisation (20 ECTS-Credits) (no courses)
Prerequisites for registration: the prerequisites of the respective curricula do apply
Learning Outcome: This module aims at expanding the study programme and at acquiring additional qualifications.
For individual specialisation modules of the curricula of the bachelor and/or diploma programmes of the University of Innsbruck corresponding to 20 ECTS-Credits are to be chosen according to §54 par. 1 of the Universities Act.
