Minor: Media, Language, Culture (30 ECTS-Credits)
Prerequisites for registration: (1) The Minor "Media, Language, Culture" covering 30 ECTS-Credits can be selected by regular degree students of bachelor's programmes at the University of Innsbruck if the respective curriculum provides for the opportunity to pass a Minor. (2) The individual modules and courses of the Minor "Media, Language, Culture" can be studied providing the availability of places.
Learning Outcome: Graduates of the Minor "Media, Language, Culture" possess knowledge and competences in the field of theoretical, analytical and applied examination of media and media communication. They can present and discuss different approaches and methods of analysis from the field of linguistics and media studies as well as from the field of cultural and literary studies (e.g. film analysis, comparative media studies, gender studies) and can apply them to different questions. They have knowledge of media in different cultural areas and can critically discuss media systems, media design and media effects. Through knowledge of approaches from different disciplines, graduates are able to describe media and media products from different perspectives, to recognise connections and to apply their media-related competences also in interdisciplinary contexts.
