Elective Modules
Für die Spezialisierung 'Fachübersetzen und Translationstechnologie' sind Wahlmodule im Umfang von insgesamt 30 ECTS-AP zu absolvieren. Folgende Varianten sind möglich: Freie Wahl aus den Wahlmodulen 1 bis 22 oder Absolvierung einer Ergänzung für Masterstudien nach Maßgabe freier Plätze. Ergänzungen sind festgelegte Module im Umfang von 30 ECTS-AP; sie werden im Mitteilungsblatt der Universität Innsbruck verlautbart. Wissenschaftliche Kompetenzerweiterung: Es sind die kompetenzerweiternden Wahlmodule 15, 17, 18 sowie 10 ECTS-AP aus den Wahlmodulen 19 bis 22 zu absolvieren. Berufspraktische Kompetenzerweiterung: Es sind Wahlmodule zur translatorischen Kompetenzerweiterung im Umfang von 7,5 ECTS-AP aus WM 1 bis 6 und kompetenzerweiternde Wahlmodule im Umfang von 22,5 ECTS-AP aus den WM 7 bis 22 zu absolvieren. Für die Spezialisierung 'Literarisches und audiovisuelles Übersetzen' sind Wahlmodule im Umfang von insgesamt 30 ECTS-AP zu absolvieren. Folgende Varianten sind möglich: Freie Wahl aus Wahlmodulen 1 bis 22 oder Absolvierung einer Ergänzung für Masterstudien nach Maßgabe freier Plätze. Ergänzungen sind festgelegte Module im Umfang von 30 ECTS-AP; sie werden im Mitteilungsblatt der Universität Innsbruck verlautbart. Berufspraktische Kompetenzerweiterung: Es sind Wahlmodule zur Vertiefung der translatorischen Kompetenz im Umfang von 7,5 ECTS-AP aus WM 1 bis 6 und kompetenzerweiternde Wahlmodule im Umfang von 22,5 ECTS-AP aus den WM 7 bis 22 zu absolvieren. Für die Spezialisierung 'Theorie und Praxis des Konferenzdolmetschens' sind Wahlmodule im Umfang von 25 ECTS-AP aus den Wahlmodulen 1 bis 22 zu absolvieren.

Learning Outcome: Advanced study and expansion of the language skills and the translation competence in the additional working language

Learning Outcome: Raising the awareness for the diversity of text types as well as for mixed text types and overlapping functionality (hybridity); consequences of these insights for translational action
Elective Module 14: Appellative Texts (2.5 ECTS-Credits, 2h) (no courses)

Learning Outcome: Promoting creative language use with the example of appellative texts
Elective Module 15: Localisation (10 ECTS-Credits, 4h) (no courses)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: Competence to analytically deal with the localisation process and the related technical, linguistic and cultural requirements; dealing with specific translation problems and techniques related to localisation assignments
Elective Module 17: Advanced Digital Competence (5 ECTS-Credits, 4h) (no courses)

Learning Outcome: Understanding and reflective handling of computer science tools at the interface of technology and language to solve scientific and practical problems
Elective Module 18: Research Workshop (5 ECTS-Credits, 4h) (no courses)

Learning Outcome: Ability to independently research and promote scientific ways of thinking as basis for the reflection on one¿s own translation practice and the subject as a whole
Elective Module 19: Practice I (2.5 ECTS-Credits) (no courses)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: The students apply their acquired knowledge and skills in a professional environment acc. to §2 par. 2 an. Having completed this elective module, the students are familiar with the conditions in the professional and/or scientific practice.
Students of the Master's Programme in Translation Studies can pass a practice corresponding to 2.5 ECTS-Credits (60 hours) in institutions acc. to §2 par. 3 to test and apply their acquired knowledge and skills or to orientate about the conditions in the professional practice and to acquire additional qualifications. The practice can be passed in the lecture-free period. It is recommended to pass it abroad. The practice must be approved by the Director of Studies before it is started.
Elective Module 20: Practice II (7.5 ECTS-Credits) (no courses)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: The students apply their acquired knowledge and skills in a professional environment acc. to §2 par. 2 an. Having completed this elective module, the students are familiar with the conditions in the professional and/or scientific practice.
Students of the Master's Programme in Translation Studies can pass a practice corresponding to 7.5 ECTS-Credits (180 hours) in institutions acc. to §2 par. 3 to test and apply their acquired knowledge and skills or to orientate about the conditions in the professional practice and to acquire additional qualifications. The practice can be passed in the lecture-free period. It is recommended to pass it abroad. The practice must be approved by the Director of Studies before it is started.
Elective Module 22: Individual specialisation (20 ECTS-Credits) (no courses)
Prerequisites for registration: The requirement specified by the respective curricula must be met.
For individual specialisation, modules from the curricula of the master's programmes offered at the University of Innsbruck corresponding to a total of 20 ECTS-Credits can be selected freely.
