Elective Module 1: Social Differentiation and Gender Relations (10 ECTS-Credits, 4 h)

Learning Outcome: The students have specialist knowledge in the field of Ancient History through examination of social relations and gender relations in antiquity with special consideration of current research trends and controversies. They are able to apply current theoretical approaches to ancient source material and to derive historical questions from it. They recognise the applicability and contextuality of the methods of analysis. The students have expanded their competence to write a scientific seminar paper.
Elective Module 2: Ancient History I (15 ECTS-Credits, 6 h)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: The students have knowledge of the history of Afro-Eurasia in the sense of an entangled history and/or ancient global history, which traces the transregional systems of interaction and communication and their actors and deals with geopolitical space. The students recognise the potential of the analytical categories gender, class, ethnicity for the historical examination of antiquity.
Elective Module 3: Historical Excursion (5 ECTS-Credits, 3 h)

Learning Outcome: The students have advanced their knowledge in recognising, evaluating and explaining different forms of presentation of past times for museums. They have the competence to present historical and especially ancient historical contexts on site and to deconstruct forms of presentation.
