Bachelor's Programme Physics according to the Curriculum 2007 (180 ECTS-Credits, 6 semesters)
Sixth Semester
Compulsory Module 21: Seminar with Bachelor Thesis (10 ECTS-Credits, 2 h)
Prerequisites for registration: successful completion of courses with a total of 105 ECTS-Credits from the compulsory modules.
Learning Outcome: Students are able to demonstrate a professional and methodically correct approach to a partial area of physics and to illustrate it written and oral in a well-structured form. They know how to impart information, ideas, problems and solutions to experts lay people. They have developed learning strategies to continue their studies result-oriented in the time scope given with a high degree of autonomy. They have knowledge in a partial area of physics in an extent which offers them the possibility to develop and apply creative and innovative ideas.

Second Semester
Elective Module 2: Laser Physics, Laser Spektroscopy & Photonics (7.5 ECTS-Credits, 4 h)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: Graduates of this module are expected to understand and explain the content
of the course, and to be able to apply the methods of the course. They should
acquire the ability to further develop the concepts and methods of Laser
Physics, Laser Spectroscopy and Photonics by themselves. Furthermore, they
should acquire a basic understanding of Laser Physics, Laser Spectroscopy
and Photonics.

Third and Fourth Semester
Elective Module 3: Seminar (Q) (5 ECTS-Credits, 2 h)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: Graduates of this module are expected to reflect the problems of quantum
physics in a creative and methodical manner and to present the results clearly through written reports and/or oral presentation.
Graduates should enroll in lecture courses of the Faculty of Mathematics,
Computer Science and Physics marked by 'WP' (Wahlmodul Physik =
elective module in Physics) corresponding to a workload of 15 ECTS-Credits.
Alternatively, they may enroll in modules of the Master Programmes in
Mathematics or Computer Science, which are not part of the Master
Programme in Physics.
Elective Module 38: Elective Module (15 ECTS-Credits)
Prerequisites for registration: The prerequisites specified in the respective curricula must be met.
Learning Outcome: Graduates should acquire further knowledge in addition to the contents of the
compulsory modules (2) and the elective modules (3) out of the fields of
Mathematics or Computer Science or further knowledge in one or more
fields of Physics.

"Doctor of Philosophy" - Doctor of Philosophy Programme Physics according to the Curriculum 2009 (180 ECTS-Credits, 6 semesters)
Compulsory Modules (30 ECTS-Credits)
Compulsory Module 2: Scientific Basics/Core Skills in the Thesis Topic (10 ECTS-Credits)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: Having successfully completed this module, students are able to discuss the
current state of knowledge in the area of the dissertation and can critically
reflect on and discuss issues with experts of the chosen sub discipline. On
this basis, they are able to make their own contributions to research. Likewise the students have interface knowledge at a high professional level which is needed for the implementation of the dissertation.
