Compulsory Modules (100 ECTS-Credits)
Compulsory Modules with a total of 100 ECTS-Credits are to be taken.
If combined with a the subject Catholic Religious Education, there are following joint compulsory modules (CM 10, 12) corresponding to 10 ECTS-Credits. They must be compensated by courses corresponding to the same amount of credits from the offer of Islamic Religious Education or the School of Catholic Theology resp. in equal parts. If the subjects of Islamic Religious Education and Catholic Religious Education are combined, then only the subject of one's own denomination/religion can be taught according to the legal regulations for denominational religious education.
Compulsory Module 1: Introduction to Scientific Working and to Qur' an Studies (5 ECTS-Credits, 3 h)

Learning Outcome: Graduates are able to objectively assess their choice of study programme. They are able to describe the formal structure and formation process of a scientific paper. They know the basic concepts, main topics and contemporary issues of Qur'an science, and they are able to present scientific-methodical concepts in a modern context.
Compulsory Module 2: Introduction to Qur´an Studies (10 ECTS-Credits, 4 h)

Learning Outcome: Graduates are able to correctly use basic Arabic concepts (vocabulary - spoken and written) with regard to the Qur'an. They are able to classify terms and main topics of the Qur'an.
Compulsory Module 4: Islamic Principles of Faith (7 ECTS-Credits, 4 h)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: Graduates are able to present Islamic Religion, its origin and development. They are able to reproduce classic-Islamic academic disciplines as well as its fundamental methodological and theoretical questions.
Compulsory Module 5: Prophetic Tradition (Hadith Studies) (7 ECTS-Credits, 4 h)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: Graduates are able to describe the origins and development of Hadith studies, and they are able to explain Hadith studies as well as to critically discuss the Sunnah tradition.
Compulsory Module 6: Qur´an and Text Comprehension in Islam (10 ECTS-Credits, 6 h)

Learning Outcome: Graduates are able to reflect and interpret written sources of Islam methodically. Furthermore, they are capable of deducing practice support from the sources for the Muslim pupils in relation to present challenges.
Compulsory Module 7: Islamic Culture and History (8.5 ECTS-Credits, 6 h)

Learning Outcome: Graduates are able to professionally discuss the genesis and development of Islamic mysticism. They are able to identify the main phases of Islamic arts and cultural history as well as to describe Islamic art forms. Graduates know the different epochs of Islamic history and understand the socio-economic and political backgrounds of different theological problems.
Compulsory Module 8: Schools of Law and Islamic Ethics (10.5 ECTS-Credits, 6 h)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: Graduates are able to describe the historical origin and content-related development of the different confessions in Islam and to explain their meaning for everyday life. They are able to recognise the significance of Islamic ethics for the present intercultural and interreligious dialogue. The graduates are able to recognise and implement their ethical responsibility in the present world. They are able to describe the development and importance of philosophy in the Islamic cultural circle and the contribution to the history of philosophy and to represent their importance for the present time.

Learning Outcome: Graduates are able to describe the origin and important stages of the development of Islamic religious education. They are able to discuss the tasks and goals of Islamic upbringing education in a differentiated way. Learning Outcome: The graduates have the skills of the Tajw¿d, can classify the terms and main themes of the Qur'an, and recite the Koran independently in Arabic. Furthermore, they can recite important surahs by heart.

Learning Outcome: Graduates are able to describe the origins and development of Hadith studies; they are also able to explain the way of dealing with the Hadith. Graduates are competent in describing important events and stages of the life of the prophet.
Compulsory Module 11: Qur'anic Sciences, Exegesis and Didactics of Qur'an (15 ECTS-Credits; 10 h)

Learning Outcome: Graduates know the basic concepts, the key or current topics of the Qur¿an and are able to summarise scientific-methodologic concepts of Classicism and the modern times. Graduates are capable of reflecting on and interpreting the written sources in Islam methodologically. Based on these sources, they are able to derive practical help and advice for Muslim school children for contemporary challenges. Graduates know dif-ferent religious-educational and subject-didactical approaches, which enable them to develop teaching-relevant concepts for teaching the Qur¿an for all school levels.

Learning Outcome: Graduates are able to discuss the emergence and development of Islamic mysticism in a competent way. They are knowledgeable about the contemporary significance of Is-lamic ethics for intercultural and interreligious dialogue and to introduce it appropriately in consideration of the respective situation.
Graduates are competent to recognise and implement their ethical responsibility in the contemporary world. They know various mystical concepts and can combine these with current religious pedagogical approaches.

Learning Outcome: The graduates are able to describe the historical and content-related development of the various schools of Islam and to explain their significance for everyday life. They are able to identify important phases of Islamic art and cultural history and to describe the corresponding Islamic forms of art. Students know the different epochs of Islamic his-tory and understand the socio-economic and political background of different theologi-cal problems.
Compulsory Module 15: Muslims and Islam in the European Context II (5 ECTS-Credits; 2 h)

Learning Outcome: Graduates are familiar with different approaches to interreligious dialogue in secular, pluralistic societies and are capable of problem solving, developing as well as critically assessing dialogue models. They know the similarities and differences between the reli-gions of Christianity and Islam and are able to see and work on topics from different perspectives.

Learning Outcome: Graduates are able to describe the emergence, development, spreading and importance of philosophy in the Islamic culture and its contribution to the history of philosophy as well as to present its relevance for today.

Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: Graduates of the Module understand the importance of school as an educational institu-tion and have basic knowledge in the fields of education, learning and teaching in insti-tutional contexts. They know alternative learning concepts and school systems. They are able to differentiate and reflect on basic concepts and situations in educational and teaching science. Graduates of scientifically sound knowledge and skills in the peda-gogical and educational-science related field of primary schools that help to support the learning and working of pupils in a differentiated way. Students are able to recognise and portray the historic, political and cultural conditions of the construction of condi-tions of difference and dominance in migration societies.
Compulsory Module 20: Principles of Educational Science II (10 ECTS-Credits; 7 h)
Prerequisites for registration: Positive completion of compulsory module 23 is precondition for the PR Basic Intern-ship School Teaching and Learning Settings.
Learning Outcome: Graduates are able to competently describe the subject and tasks of developmental psy-chology and contemporary theories of socialisation and development and to critically discuss the most important concepts and paradigms of developmental and socialisation research. They know the basic concepts of empirical research and are able to under-stand and apply the basic logic of empirical projects. Graduates are able to perceive the framework conditions of teaching religious education and to plan and implement shorter teaching units. They are moreover able to correctly apply the legal framework condi-tions of educational contexts.

Prerequisites for registration: Positive completion of compulsory module is a precondition for the PR Subject-Related Practical Course II.
Learning Outcome: Graduates know the framework conditions of teaching religious education at secondary level I schools. They can plan, hold and evaluated lessons in religious education against the background of pertinent subject-didactic insights and practices.

Learning Outcome: Graduates are able to describe the development of approaches and models of community work and pedagogy and to productively use them for actual practice. They competently recognise different forms of interreligious conduct of Muslims as result of complex and individual processes. Graduates are competent in the framework conditions of religious education at the respective school types (e.al with regards to handicap, cultural aspects, gender, social inequality, interreligious aspects). They have fundamental subject-didactic skills for competence-based planning, managing and evaluating teaching and learning pro-cesses at school. Minor: Ancient Near Eastern Languages (30 ECTS-Credits)
Prerequisites for registration: (1) The Minor "Ancient Near Eastern Languages" covering 30 ECTS-Credits can be selected by regular degree students of bachelor's and diploma programmes at the University of Innsbruck if the respective curriculum provides for the opportunity to pass a Minor.
(2) The individual modules and courses of the Minor "Ancient Near Eastern Languages" may be passed providing the availability of places.
Learning Outcome: Graduates of the Minor "Ancient Near Eastern Languages" are able to present and independently use theories and tools of historical language research and philology. On the basis of their acquired and deepened language competences, they can classify different languages of the Ancient Near East and its contact zones and independently describe and edit them linguistically and philologically. They recognise the cultural and socio-political backgrounds of the emergence and spread of various ancient oriental writing systems. They can derive and analyse commonalities and differences as well as the underlying diachronic and synchronic language change processes from the languages and language families dealt with. They sharpen their logical thinking and broaden their sensibility and understanding for foreign ways of expression through the confrontation with foreign cultures and forms of society.
Elective modules covering 10 ECTS-Credits are to be passed
Elective modules (10 ECTS-Credits)
- Students of the Bachelor¿s Programme in Islamic-Theological Studies and the Bachelor's Secondary School Teacher Programme in the subject Islamic Religion may not select elective module 2.
- Students of the Diploma Programme in Catholic Theology may not select elective module 3.
- Students of the Bachelor's Programme Classica et Orientalia with the specialisation in Ancient Near Eastern Philology and History may not select elective modules 1 and 4.
- Students of the Bachelor's Programme in Linguistics may not select elective module 5.
Elective module 2: Arabic (5 ECTS-Credits, 4 h)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: Graduates are able to correctly use basic Arabic terms (vocabulary in speaking and writing) with reference to the Koran and to apply different transcription styles. They master grammar and are also able to understand and edit Arabic Islamic theological texts.
