Prerequisites for registration: successful completion of compulsory module 1

Learning Outcome: Students
- have basic knowledge in the use of ecological assessments in the field of nature conservation of aquatic and terrestrial systems,
- learn ecological contexts based on a practical example in forest border ecotone,
- understand biogeochemical cycles in aquatic systems in the context of food webs,
- know the use of molecular biological methods in ecology.

- can present and critically discuss a scientific original work,
- can research literature
- can manage literature, information and knowledge,
- can visualise and present information and knowledge,
- know basics of writing scientific papers.

- master sampling strategies and the use of sampling equipment in the field,
- have basic knowledge of biodiversity in the field,
- have basic knowledge of structure and functions of the soil.

- know the ecological basics for the management of ecosystems in theory and practice,
- know methods, tools and guidelines for the investigation, assessment and management of habitats and landscapes,
- understand complex relationships in the field of conflict ecology - sustainable use nature and water protection ¿ forestry and agriculture.

Learning Outcome: Students can
- design an experimental strategy on ecological issues,
- acquire appropriate measurement methods,
- collect and evaluate measurement data,
- present the results in the form of a lecture,
- present the project in a structured manner in a scientific report.

Learning Outcome: Students are able to formulate an interdisciplinary research issue, select suitable methods of investigation and analyse and evaluate the results in teams. Furthermore, they are able to explain the results and to critically discuss them.

Learning Outcome: Students are able to formulate scientific questions based on the latest scientific findings for their Master's Thesis. They are able to develop hypothesis, test them with suitable methods and reflect on the results in scientific discourse.

Learning Outcome: Students are able to analyse, assess and communicate functional ecological relationships at the scale of individuals to ecosystems.

Learning Outcome: Students have an understanding of the mechanisms of aquatic microbial ecology. They are able to independently analyse, evaluate and communicate results to gain insights into examination strategies of this discipline and can apply their knowledge in practice.

Learning Outcome: Students haven an extensive overview of the ecological conditions and the variety of ways organisms acclimatize in alpine freshwaters. They understand their sensitivity to current risks like e.g. climate change.

Learning Outcome: Students are able to analyse the biology, ecology and biodiversity of alpine habitats and their animals and to understand them in the context of biodiversity crisis and climate change.

Learning Outcome: Students are able to independently carry out population and conservation-genetic analysis corresponding to the current state of research in molecular ecology and to analyse, evaluate and communicate the generated data.

Learning Outcome: Students are familiar with basic theoretical and methodological concepts of man-environment-relationships and can apply their knowledge for finding answers to actual ecological problems in the outdoors.

Learning Outcome: Students are familiar with the biology and ecology of important animal and plant species, which act as pests and/or are invasive. Students understand the ecological relationships that are necessary for biological control of these species and are able to apply their knowledge in practice in the outdoors.

Learning Outcome: Students are familiar with current concepts, methods and problems of modern applied ecology of running waters and are able to evaluate running waters in practice.

Learning Outcome: Students are familiar with the analysis, interpretation and critical discussion of own and other
data corresponding to the current state of knowledge. They are able to document, present and
interpret research results as well as to derive their own research strategies.

international discourse of the natural sciences. Additionally, students learn about the concept,
