Bachelor's Programme Civil Engineering according to the Curriculum 2025 (180 ECTS-Credits, 6 semesters)
Compulsory Modules (167 ECTS-Credits)
Compulsory Module 11: Strength of Materials 2 (6.5 Credits, 5 h)
Prerequisites for registration: positively passed Studies Induction and Orientation Stage
Learning Outcome: Ad a and b: Students are able to differentiate between the elastic, plastic and time-dependent behaviour of solid, deformable bodies, select an appropriate mathematical model for the respective material behaviour and use it to calculate the internal forces, stresses and deformations of statically determinate and simply statically indeterminate bar structures for specific tasks, taking into account the possible stability problems with compression-loaded bars. This enables students to assess the serviceability and load-bearing capacity of statically determinate and statically indeterminate beam structures as well as the efficiency of the use of resources.

INFO Bachelor's Programme Civil and Environmental Engineering according to the Curriculum 2007 (180 ECTS-Credits, 6 semesters)
Third Semester
Compulsory Module 4: Module Strength of Materials (12.5 ECTS-Credits, 10 h)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: Mastery of the determination of the tensions and malformations of deformable solid bodies, especially of poles, following static and thermal pressures; these findings form the basis for proving the serviceability and load-bearing capacity of building constructions.
