Learning Outcome: Students are capable of evaluating core social scientific strands of theories of women's and gender studies and can differentiate key questions of gender studies. They have knowledge of social movement research (feminist movement) and of gender studies' connectivity with humanistic, cultural and social scientific as well as economic disciplines. They are able to classify gender as a principal structuring category in societal contexts.

Learning Outcome: Students acquire knowledge of methodological, conceptual and theoretical tools to analyse the reproduction and change of inequalities, lifestyles and ways of life in post-national and post-colonial constellations and with regard to different forms of violence and domination. This takes into account social classification and differentiation processes, the interdependence of various forms of discrimination with the gender dimension as well as civil society self-organisation processes and social movements.

Students have to complete an internship in order to test and apply acquired knowledge and skills. The internship also serves to give insight to the occupational practice and to gain professional qualifications. It amounts to 200 hours. It is to be completed at institutions where speicalists for gender issues, equal opportunities or diversity officers pursuant to § 1 sec. 4 work (e.g. educational and research institutions, media, private companies, NGOs and non-profit organizations, public administration, international organizations, institutions in the area of migration and integration, institutions in policy fields such as social, cultural, economic, development and gender equality policy). It takes place during the semester break. Students have to seek approval by the university programme director before entrance into the internship. A confirmation of the tasks performed (including duration, scope and content) issued by the institution is to be submitted in writing.
Module 8: Internship (10 ECTS-Credits, 1 h)
Prerequisites for registration: successful completion of 3 modules, whereof at least 2 compulsory modules
Learning Outcome: Students apply acquired knowledge and skills in a professional environment; upon completion of the module, students are familiar with the conditions of professional and/or academic practice.
