Three seminars corresponding to 15 ECTS-Credits must be passed. They can be selected from three or two of the following key areas: SE Ancient History: (2 hrs., 5 ECTS-Credits) SE Middle Ages: (2 hrs., 5 ECTS-Credits) SE Modern Times: (2 hrs., 5 ECTS-Credits) SE Economic and Social History(2 hrs., 5 ECTS-Credits) SE Austrian History: (2 hrs., 5 ECTS-Credits) SE Contemporary History: (2 hrs., 5 ECTS-Credits) Advanced expert knowledge gained through dealing with a topical area of the six historic key areas.
Module 4: Advanced Topics (15 ECTS-Credits, 6 h)

Learning Outcome: Students deal with new themes in selected key areas. They understand and evaluate them as well as argument with regards to scientific dynamics and trends of the respective key areas. They understand the strengths and weaknesses of the different methodological approaches. They gain competences in independent formulating of questions and argumentations.

Learning Outcome: Students present the research issues of their Masters Theses including an overview of research literature and source situation. They explain and substantiate their conceptual design and the contents dealt with. They analyse, compare and evaluate their own and other research concepts and results. They deal with research questions from controversial perspectives. They handle peer review and different scientific presentation formats.
