University Assistant (PhD position)

  • 20 hours per week; will be increased to 30 hours per week once the dissertation agreement has been signed

Job Description:

Your tasks:

  • Dissertation in the field of urban water management, stormwater management and climate change adaptation
  • Independent research in the field of urban water management
  • Independent teaching
  • Training and further education
  • Administrative tasks

Your profile:

  • Completed relevant Master's, Magister or Diplom degree in the field of civil or environmental engineering, environmental sciences, geography, spatial planning, hydrology or a related discipline
  • Please enclose written considerations on your dissertation project with your application (max. 5 pages)
  • Knowledge of urban water management and climate change adaptation (heavy rainfall and heat islands) desirable
  • Modelling experience in the field of drainage systems and hydrology
  • Programming skills with MATLAB, Python or similar, as well as GIS knowledge an advantage
  • Very good knowledge of German and English required
  • Ability to work in a team with lecturers, institute staff and supervised students

The minimum gross salary (stipulated by collective agreement) for 20 hours per week amounts to € 1.857 per month (14 times)*. The salary will be increased to € 2.785 for 30 hours per week once the dissertation agreement has been signed and sent to the Personnel Department. The salary will be higher if you have worked in a similar position before.
