The students have acquired different theoretical psychoanalytical approaches to the situation of refugees. The different psychosocial aspects of the process of forced migration can be determined and the psychodynamic issues associated with them can be named. The participants are able to critically reflect on different psychoanalytic concepts and their potentials for refugee research.

The psychosocial consequences of forced migration are highly relevant in social, political and educational terms. Against this background, the seminar deals with the experiences of refugees. In order to be able to explore the psychosocial situation of refugees in its depth dimension, mainly psychoanalytic and social psychological theories and studies are used as sensitizing concepts to enable access to the psychodynamic conflicts, themes and unconscious dimensions of the research field of forced migration located between society and subject.

Theoretical input, elaboration and presentation of selected articles/texts.

Active participation, preparation of texts and presentations, writing of a seminar paper.

Literature for each session will be announced in the course.
