Student acquire basic knowledge of the history, process, actors and political fields of European Integration

The course explores the political history of European integration, examines the EU's core institutions and policy making, and analyzes the key challenges facing the EU in the coming years. The seminar will give a broad prospective on what the EU was, and potentially what it is going to be.

The European Institutions course aims to equip students with the ability to analyse critically the process of European economic, political and legal integration. Consequently, in addition to examining the Institutional arrangements of the European Union (EU), the course also focuses on theoretical contributions that seek to interpret and explain current developments. Beyond this, the seminar considers the Constitutional nature of the EU and examines the principal EU policies that have been developed under the aegis of European integration. Finally we discuss the problem of "Communicating Europe" in a yet non-existant European public sphere
