Curr. 2021 § 5 (1) 12: The students can reflect the current status of the debates on the dynamics of social change in agriculture and rural areas and describe their interactions with social developments (in Austria, Europe and in countries in the south). They will be able to reflect on and analyse processes of urban-rural relationships as well as the fundamentals of regional development processes using social science theories.

The seminar deals with practical procedures in relation to regional development processes with case studies from the scientific literature and concrete (research) projects. In addition, questions of peasant identities, gender relations in rural areas and nutritional sociology are discussed.

Writing key messages of compulsory literature, preparation and presentation of texts by the students, discussion, etc.

Immanent examinations:

Continuous assessment, evaluation of written key-messages, preparation and presentation of scientific literature texts, active participation in discussions and written take-home-test

Will be discussed in the first session.
