Knowledge that enables the development of strategies and practices for relating competently to internal and external stakeholders of the organization. Evaluating implications of different forms of corporate governance with respect to internal and external communication.  

The lecture is divided into two parts. Part I (Weiskopf) introduces concepts of (corporate) governance as a way of thinking about the management of stakeholder-relations. It starts with problematizing the dominant managerial perspective deriving form agency theory, then introduces the concept of (neoliberal) governmentality as a way of understanding how action is governed in organizations and finally it introduces concepts of governance that reconceptualise stakeholder-relations in dialogical and political terms. Part II (Manz-Christ) concentrates on the development of strategies of corporate communication, pubic relations and (corporate) communication in situations of crisis. Examples from public and private organizations are discussed.
