PS Standard Literature in the Educational and Social Sciences

Students have basic knowledge of educational and social-scientific texts and are able to explore them hermeneutically.

The seminar addresses the social conditions of education and focuses on the question of how the connection between education, social differences (gender, race, disability, age) and social inequality (class) is subjectively experienced, publicly addressed, scientifically researched and theoretically explained, using fundamental educational and social science texts.

Sustainable reading of the given texts as well as writing drafts answering several questions.

This lecture requires the amount of 7,5 ECTS-AP (= 187,5 hrs). In order to obtain a certificate it is required to attend regularly (max. one session can be missed), to read prepartory the given literature, to continuously write various individual texts and to participate in discussions. Course with formative assessment, i.e., students are graded on the basis of written and/or oral tasks assigned regularly over the term.
