The aim of this course is to look at two socio-political issues of our (modern) lives: migration and the refugee crisis.

We will be exploring stories of people who have experienced either voluntary migration or have fled their homes as refugees in contemporary novels. Writers we will be working with include Hassan Akkad, Yusra Mardini, Daniel Trilling, Behrouz Boochani, Delphine Minoui, Aravind Adiga, Kate Clanchy, Aleksandar Hemon, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, etc.
